Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve

Sherwood Forest, the land of legendary Robin Hood, covers about 1050 acres and includes wood pastures and lowland heath. Did Robin Hood and his Merry Men gather under an oak tree? Well they might of as the forest is dominated by native oak trees many of which are over 500 years old. The oldest of the oaks, the "Major Oak" may be approaching 1,000 years old.

Location: Sherwood Forest is about 20 miles north of Nottingham.
